Jeff Petry Dealt To The Habs For A 2nd And 5th

Well that’s not exactly a bold return. Seeing this makes me wonder if it’s really as difficult to get top four blue line help as we’ve made it seem. But then again, Mac T.

Last week I seen what Carolina got for Sekera and I was very excited. Too excited. Shit Philly even picked up a second and a fourth for that glorified pensioner Kimmo Timonen. One team trades a grandpa who hasn’t played a game yet this year and will likely retire and gets a second and conditional fourth, the other trades a 27-year-old having a career year and gets a second and a conditional fifth. Oilerz hockey. Thought at least we’d be seeing a first round pick back. Anytime you trade a defenseman like Petry you’re probably not going to win the trade but dammit a first rounder would have made the wounds heal easier. We literally got traped in this deal. To say I’m disappointed would be an understatement. Just another day in Oil Country.

Some of you know I was never a big Petry fan. Yes, our teams were atrocious, and it wasn’t fair to blame Petry for struggling when he was asked to carry way more than he should have. But dammit sometimes the man made decisions that made you drink the hard stuff. Regardless of my feelings, Petry is a Hab now and we have a gaping hole on the point that probably won’t be filled for at least a few years. At least Nikitin’s an Olympian.

Petry eulogy blog will be up shortly.
