Mike Reilly’s Out Indefinitely With A Knee Injury Because Of Course He Is
— Edmonton Eskimos (@EdmontonEsks) June 28, 2015
That’s just your standard Edmonton way to start a season. Of course Mike Reilly injured his knee not even four quarters into the year. We’re a city completely incapable of having a star player finish a season without suffering an injury. I’d send Connor McDavid in for weekly appointments starting right now if I were the Oilers. Make sure he’s had every shoulder triple checked before he steps on the ice and dislocates it from being in Edmonton.
So what does this mean for the Esks? Well nothing good. Matt Nichols is a capable quarterback and proved that in the playoffs last year, but he doesn’t have that elite element Reilly possesses, especially when it comes to a ground attack. And we’re already behind the Stampeders thanks to a dismal performance in front of eight people in Fort Mac. Hate to be pessimistic here too but given the history of Reilly and his injuries I’m guessing we’re going to see a lot of Matt Nichols in the foreseeable future. Can’t wait for next year.
