The Morning After Blog: Another One Goal Loss
Fresh off a solid road trip through the east coast, the boys in blue were back on Iron Jungle ice last night. The Oilers have been bad for the last decade, but they’ve been especially bad in their first home game after a road trip over. But this is a different Oilers team, so I went into this one with confidence. Naturally it backfired.
Yet another one goal loss. Hell.
First home game in two week! Let’s go! Aaaaaaaand its 1-0…Lori Korpikoski. Because of course. Why wouldn’t it be Lori goddamn Korpikoski?
But have no fear, the Big Rig is here!

Then we had a tilt. That’s Darnell’s music!!!
Beat his ass Daryl!!
YA!!! Dallas made it 2-1 shortly after the beat down by Nurse, but with the period winding down Tyler Pitlick gets on the board with his 5th (!!!!!) goal of the year to draw the Oil even at 2-2 heading into the locker rooms.
The second period started with Adam Larsson knocking Tony Roussel into December…
Bang!!! Taylor who??
Edmonton came out firing in the second, missing on a multitude of chances. But naturally the Stars put on an absolute clinic for a couple of minutes, and at the 15 minute mark of the period, Roussel got the last laugh.
Shots at the end of the 3rd: 12-3 in favour of the Oil.
Score at the end of the third: 3-2 for Dallas.
Not a completely terrible game from the Oil in this one, but these one goal losses are starting to ware me down.
Hendo likes what he sees from the #Oilers thus far: "I see a more cohesive group. It's amazing what some wins can do for your moxie."

Darnell beating the piss out of Curtis Mckenzie(?) was a highlight of the night. Need to see him do that to Sam Bennett one time. Need it.
It wasn’t Cam Talbot’s best night if we’re being honest. But that’s okay. He’ll bounce back.
Edmonton needs to stop getting scored on in the first minute every night and that’s obvious. Chasing the game from the get-go is not the best strategy to say the least.
If I hear Drew Rememda call Tyler Pitlick “Lance” one more time I will drive down to the Iron Jungle and fight him myself.
Kari Lehtonen recorded what seemed like his millionth career win against the Oil. Guy let’s in goddamn everything against every team in the league except Edmonton. Figures.
Hottest Tweet of the Night
for real look at this shit. he's 16 years old playing in the SHL. insane. https://t.co/CEOKqm23Aj

Technically this was this morning, but god I love me some quality Canucks Twitter. Already looking ahead to the 2018 draft. Rasmus Dahlin: future victim of Connor McDavid.
If the Game Was a Song
“Kryptonite” – 3 Doors Down. Because Kari Lehtonen.
Tyler Pitlick. The guy was money all night. Tacked on his 5th of the year and was throwing the body around all over the ice. He’s quickly establishing himself as a useful NHLer after spending the last six years on the IR.
If you beat another man into submission like Darnell did last night, there’s literally nobody else we could give the GGG to. Gator would be proud.
